Skye House, Habaraduwa

On entering Skye House, from the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns, the pace of life immediately slows down.  Arriving through large wooden gates, you are instantly greeted by two lion fountains and a fantastic purple lotus pond. On your left, French doors lead you into the immaculate and well-equipped kitchen.  Marbled stone work tops, white washed walls and stripy breakfast stools, make this a very striking and inviting breakfast or children’s dining area. Stepping stones across a small lawn lead to the en-suite pool side games room, complete with TV/DVD Player/WIFI and a pool table.  Elegant glass doors open out onto the stylish sun deck, equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas overlooking the infinity terrazzo tiled pool. The Pond Room terrace, situated immediately on the right as you enter the property has twin beds and an en-suite with shower. Above the twin, up the wooden stairway, is a children’s bunk room with six beds and a cot. Three painted stools, small paintings and a cosy rug create a child-friendly atmosphere, and on the practical side, a large chest of draws and wardrobe is there to manage any creative mess. An en-suite stretches the length of the room complete with a shower. Head south along the decking, elevated over the inner courtyard pond below to an alluring wicker sofa with a sensational sea view.  This balcony continues through to the veranda that stretches for the entirety and either side are the two main bedrooms both with inviting ocean views. The Master Suite is on the right; four poster bed, lovely antique furniture and a Narnia inspired wardrobe. The spacious en suite bathroom has twin sinks, a Victorian bath, that when lying down you can see out to sea, and a separate shower. The other bedroom on this level is another magnificent room with garden, pool and ocean views.  It comes with a king-size sleigh bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. Below these two suites is the large living / dining space, with French doors opening out to the garden, indoor courtyard and infinity pool. The long wooden table seating up to 14 is at one end whilst at the other are two sofas and a blue day bed. A small study leads off the living space with a desk and WIFI access.  Accessed via the inner courtyard, opposite the Pond room, is the Garden Suite, with a king-sized bed and en-suite, with shower and French glass windows that lead out to the garden. A unique Jungle Gym style playground is discreetly situated to the side of the house, guided by two turquoise antique shutters that stylishly accent the crisp white wall. The immaculate lawn, laid across the back of the house shares the spectacular sea view. Hosted by palm trees, a volley ball net awaits, perhaps followed by an afternoon snooze in the hammock and an evening stroll along the beach. Whether ‘active’ or ‘relaxing’, Skye House has all that could be desired for the perfect holiday.
