Suriyawatta is an immaculately designed five-bedroom, single storey, courtyard property, which can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests.  Named after the two large Tulip trees that shade the south facing lawn and poolside, the house is situated on elevated land with cascading lawns down to the coral reef protected beach below. The French owners have that easy going elegant style, which is reflected throughout the properties’ interior, while the white washed walls and Farrow & Ball green shutters add to the serenity and calm of this modern-colonial, terraced retreat. The rooms’ décor, mixes antique furniture, rich textiles and canopy beds with exposed polished cement, creating a charming contemporary-chic feel.  There is a great sense of continuity and calm as each room has been thoughtfully considered. There are four bedrooms in the main house with a master suite with a lovely king size four-poster bed. Three further bedroom suites (one double and two twin rooms) are also housed in the main building’s inner courtyard. This courtyard can be closed at both ends making it an easy area for parents with young children. The 5th bedroom, that occupies a garden suite a few metres from the main house, can be made up as a twin, or as a double. All bedrooms have air con and over head fans and fitted mosquito nets, with ensuite sleek and spacious bathroom with immaculate modern furnishings. The living room has stunning polished tiled floors and a high vaulted ceiling with elegant grey sofas from which guest can take in the impressive views thanks to the expansive open-plan design. There is Sat TV/DVD and surround sound system. Additional activities, in the form of a sleek ‘swing with-a-spectacular view’ as well as an inspired Boule court, satisfying both schools of thought; those looking for serenity, and those more inclined to air their competitive streak. The enticing turquoise salt-water pool sits between the villa and the ocean, with an alfresco shower tucked into the steps, leading down to the beach.  Between mid-December and early April, there is a left-hand surf break that experienced surfers can paddle out from the beach gate. This is a very stylish, comfortable and carefully put together house – they have thought of everything, including outdoor Bose speakers, which are discreetly nestled into the garden.   The lawns are immaculately kept, fit for cricket or croquet! Raised, well-kept flower beds line the walls between the two properties, as does an eye catching green living wall. Suriyawatta’s smiley staff also add to the charm of this fantastic villa.  Having been professionally trained, they are attentive and on hand to help with any request, whilst respecting privacy and discretion.  You cannot fail to fall in love with this fantastic family home.
