Domaine de Canaille, Côte d'Azur

Located under the majestic Cap Canaille within the Calanques National Park, Domaine de Canaille spans 60 hectares (150 acres) and is one of the largest and most prestigious private estates on the French Riviera. This exceptional 600 m² villa in Cassis, formerly the Revestel hotel that welcomed guests such as Virginia Woolf and Winston Churchill, was fully renovated in 2017 and can accommodate up to 24 guests.

The estate enjoys a spectacular setting overlooking the turquoise waters of the Arena beach, accessible on foot via a private road in just five minutes. A vast 400 m² terrace faces the sea, creating an extraordinary outdoor living space. The property features a 13 x 5 meter swimming pool heated to 26°C from April to October, as well as a jacuzzi heated year-round to 38°C, both positioned to enjoy panoramic sea views.

The Domaine offers 11 to 12 bedrooms across the main villa and an additional entrance house.

On the second floor of the main house, a 90 m² master suite includes a sea-view bedroom, office, large bathroom, and two private terraces.

On the first floor, there are seven bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, including five with sea views. Six of these rooms can be configured as twin rooms. A living room can serve as a dormitory.

On the ground floor, there is a twin bedroom with garden view and bathroom.

Three additional twin bedrooms are located in a separate house at the estate entrance. One of these is available only at certain dates and with a supplement. A maximum of 15 guests may sleep in each house.

Seasonal Rentals

The estate is available year-round for weekly rentals and must be rented in its entirety. In low and mid-season, shorter stays of 3 to 4 days may be possible.

Weekly rates range from €42,000 to €98,000 based on 20 guests. Six hours of daily housekeeping and continental breakfast buffet are included.

For more than 20 guests, an additional €100 per person per night applies. Suite 10 can be rented for an additional €490 per night.

Final cleaning (€850), tourist tax (€4.90 per adult per day), and reception fees are not included.

Wedding rental fees range from €40,000 to €130,000 depending on date, guest number, and duration. A one-week rental is required from mid-June to end of August and for large weddings (minimum 4 nights otherwise). Only two large weddings per year are accepted. Wedding guests are not permitted inside the house; events take place outdoors with a tent required in case of bad weather.

Seminars

The estate hosts corporate retreats, seminars, and executive gatherings.

The all-inclusive seminar package starts at €450 per person (excluding VAT), including accommodation, full access to the estate, all meals, drinks and alcohol. Minimum corporate retreat budget: €12,000 (excluding VAT).

Team-building activities can be organized, including electric bike tours, hiking in the calanques, paddle or kayak lessons, boat tours with aperitif, yoga, wine tasting, climbing, helicopter transfers to Porquerolles, and sidecar tours in Marseille.

Wellness & Detox Retreats

Since 2017, wellness and detox retreats led by Marie Treppoz are hosted at the Domaine. Programs include cold-pressed juices, monodiet, vegan cooking workshops, Ayurvedic treatments, yoga, meditation, hiking and biking.

Program cost: €950 plus room rate. For outside participants: €1,050 for four days or €290 per single day. The price excludes transport, massages, naturopath consultations (from €60/hour), and electric bike rental (€50).
