The Murlo Estate is one of the most exclusive private country estates in Italy, owned by the same family for generations. Renowned for its thousands of hectares of immaculate woods and olive groves, and for its superb valleys, lakes and rivers, it is the perfect place for a relaxing and tranquil holiday, offering a high level of comfort and elegance.
Situated in the enchanting Umbrian valley, the Estate offers a wide selection of possibilities for its guests: nine luxury villas, a charming apartment, three deluxe rooms and a romantic cottage, all elegantly furnished and offering superior levels of comfort.
Tucked away between the gently rolling hills of the Murlo valley, the estate villas, all beautifully restored, are decorated in rich, warm colours that reflect the subtle shades of the Umbrian countryside. Each of our villas in Umbria is a little jewel of privacy, comfort and elegance, with landscaped gardens and infinity pools overlooking breathtaking countryside. Added to all of this, the attentive and discreet service of our staff makes a stay at our luxury villas in Umbria a truly wonderful and memorable experience.
Space reigns supreme in villa Castiglione Ugolino, from the extensive surrounding garden and grounds, to the large kitchen and the well-appointed 10 bedrooms with their en-suite sumptuous marble bathrooms (6 in the main unit of the villa and 4 in the annex villa). Vaulted ceilings, reclaimed terracotta tiles floors, XIII-century frescos, travertine marble stairs create a unique home that is luxurious without being ostentatious, mixing modern comfort with traditional materials.
Adjacent and connected to the main villa and completely adorned with hand-painted decorations, the impressive church of Santa Maria Maddalena, is a unique setting to celebrate romantic and memorable moments or to simply indulge enjoying beauty and silence.
Just on the other side of the landscaped garden there is an annex building composed of 4 beautiful en-suite bedrooms, a spacious kitchen and a cozy living room that afford a spectacular view over the lovely wooden pergola and the infinity pool of the villa.
Subtilia is a beautiful 16th century farmhouse, set on the top of one of the hills of Murlo, affording spectacular views across the medieval castle of Antognolla and its 18-hole championship golf course, which are particularly impressive from the large infinity pool, complete with Jacuzzi. Subtilia accommodates up to 16 guests (it has six en-suite bedrooms and two children’s bedrooms) with the exceptional comfort of the main villa and a beautiful apartment (Olivo).
The name “Caminata” originates from the Italian word for “chimney” and refers to a villa with many chimneys. Surely the most spectacular element of this villa is its lush garden with more than 3.000 plants that bloom at different times of the year giving a wonderful display of colours that change with the seasons. Caminata can accommodate up to 12 guests in the main villa and in the elegant cottage close by in the gardens.
Among the many gems of the Murlo Estate, villa Penna can be considered the crown jewel. Ideal for those who just want to get away from it all and surrender to complete privacy at the height of luxury, Penna offers the very best of the Murlo Estate in terms of quality of the interior decoration and outdoor facilities. The 4 bedrooms have been elegantly and lovingly refurbished, with great attention to details and textures inspired to the latest design trends. From the lovely pool house facing the big infinity pool, you can cocoon yourself in the enthralling views of the Umbrian countryside.
Villa San Savino is a four-bedroom, 14th century property that is named after Saint Sabinus, Bishop of Spoleto, to whom the little church on the Estate was once dedicated. This used to be one of the most important churches of Murlo. One of the most ancient properties on the estate, its terracotta tile floors and original kitchen, along with its imposing old stone walls, give a sense of the building’s history as the most important social meeting point of the Estate. Set within the elegant, spacious garden, the stunning terrace, decked in wood, provides a peaceful haven with uninterrupted views across the Estate.
Torre is a stunning villa rebuilt on the ruins of a medieval defensive tower of the Murlo Estate. It is almost impossible to find a view as enthralling as the wooded valley below Torre. The gorgeous infinity pool and the spectacular roof terrace offer stunning panoramic views that will remain engraved on your memory. With three bedrooms, each individually decorated in warm colours with over-sized beds fitted with linen made of the finest soft cottons, and an elegant living room with fireplace, you will feel as if you were staying in the home of a special friend which you will never want to leave.
Molinella is the ultimate retreat for those looking to live in splendid seclusion, taking pleasure from the wonders of nature. Guests can bask in the morning sunshine surrounded by the peaceful sound of the river whilst enjoying their morning espresso. We then recommend venturing on walks to seek out the natural pools nearby before returning to relax in the private underground jacuzzi within the ancient vault of this restored XIII century mill. Molinella boasts two en suite bedrooms, a private underground jacuzzi, sauna, private outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub overlooking the river.
Santa Croce, a three-bedroom villa, perched on the very top of Monte Santa Croce, is an example of flawless restoration on an exceptional site. Perhaps Santa Croce’s real name should be “the-villa-on-top-of-the-world” thanks to an extraordinary location with 360° views over the Murlo Estate and Umbria. One of the most striking villas on the Estate, Santa Croce impresses with its fine interior design and large infinity pool that seems to float above the valley of Murlo.
Last but not least, Villa Monticelli is an exquisite, renovated farmhouse set right on the hills of the Antognolla Golf Course.
Its strategic position offers breath-taking views of the Umbrian countryside and its rolling hills. The road to the villa itself never fails to amaze, with views over the majestic Antognolla Castle, which dates back to the XI century.
The traditional appearance of Villa Monticelli, surrounded by century-old olive trees, gives way to the modern yet elegant interiors. The villa boasts an infinity pool with stunning views as far as the eye can see. With its expansive terraces and pergola, guests can enjoy leisurely breakfasts, lunches and sunset aperitivos immersed in the quiet oasis only this side of Umbria can offer. The villa offers the perfect setting to enjoy a memorable family holiday or countryside escape with friends.
