Villa Mareluce

Villa Mareluce is set in a peaceful oasi, immersed in greenery about a 20-minute walk from the Piazzetta in Capri. The villa lies away from the crowds and the daily buzz of the island, in a residential area inhabited mostly by locals. Some of the island’s most renowned historical sights, connected to thousands of years of history, are in your ‘back yard’, including Villa Lysis & Villa Jovis the former palace belonging to the Roman emperor Tiberius. The villa is particularly suitable for those who want to enjoy the relaxing island energy yet still be close to town. A few local restaurants and grocery stores are a several min walk, yet groceries can also be delivered. Our on-site concierge will make your arrival and stay smooth while an on-site chef, available on request, can prepare your perfect meals.

The villa is surrounded by a vast park with a large pool set high on one of the most panoramic spots of the property. Villa Mareluce has belonged to great international personalities of literature and culture, used in the past as a "literary refuge" and a great source for inspiration. From the main entrance gate, a stone paved flight of 12 steps leads onto the terrace and the ground floor. The terrace is furnished for outdoor dining with a large wooden table, chairs, and an umbrella and with a sitting area with garden furniture. The bedrooms are spacious and guarantee privacy and access to the outdoor areas, while the bathrooms are decoratively made with hand painted ceramic tiles.

Entrance is into a small entrance hall where the main living room lies to the left. The living area is not air-conditioned but due to the property’s position, the villa is extremely cool year round. The lounge is bright and spacious and enjoys two large balconies furnished with white wicker sofas, a marble table, and a large sofa. The terrace, which runs along the side of the villa that faces the sea, offers direct access the living room. The dining room, full of light thanks to its two, arch shaped panoramic windows, is next to the living room and boasts a round marble table for 6. An ancient ceramic stove offers a lovely decorative element to the room. The master bedroom is on this floor, furnished with fresh colors. The master is air-conditioned and has a large arch shaped window with a splendid sea view, along with a white closet and a chest with 5 drawers. The master is complete with a large en-suite tile bathroom with bathtub/shower.At the center of the house, a room with tall vaulted ceilings, apparently once used as a well, connects the lower and upper levels of the property: 11 steps from the master lead to the kitchen and 10 more steps lead to the ground floor.

First Floor: 11 steps up to the right lies an air-conditioned double bedroom with a white headboard, a low cabinet with drawers and window leading out onto a shared terrace. The bedroom enjoys a private bathroom with bathtub and shower in the hallway. The terrace is furnished with an outdoor lounge area with wicker furniture and spectacular views. There is also a triple bedroom with three single beds and a balcony opening onto the shared terrace. This bedroom is also air-conditioned and has an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower.

Lower Floor: 11 steps down lead to a small corridor opening into the kitchen and a small terrace with an outdoor table and chairs. The kitchen features a 6-gas stovetop, an oven, microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. 10 steps further down lead to two twin bedrooms. Both rooms have access to a portico terrace and share a bathroom with a bathtub/shower. The terrace on this level is also connected to the terrace on the ground floor by a flight of 20 steps, which also lead to the gate at the main entrance. There is a laundry room with washing machines and dryer, and eventual accommodation for staff.

Dependence: The terrace also leads to the dependence down a path of 8 steps. Here lies a double bedroom with a large double bed and an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower.

One of the attractions of Villa Mareluce is its private park, which extends over 1400 acres of pine trees, Mediterranean flora, and enchanting sea views. Paths and stone paved stairways lead through the park surrounding the villa and each is connected to the other and to the pathways leading to the main building. The paths take you to the panoramic terraces from which you can enjoy a truly unique view and moments of pure bliss. The pool area is also located in the garden, down a pathway leading you through some of the estate’s Mediterranean vegetation.

The infinity pool has a large terracotta paved sundeck, complete with an outdoor shower, sun beds and an umbrella, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view overlooking the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvious. You can also see the main port of Capri, Marina Grande, and parts of the Ischia and Procida islands. There are tables for outdoor dining and an external dressing room with a bathroom and shower.
